House of Representatives: The circulating figure regarding expenditures is not true

Pulbished on:

Tripoli, September 10, 2025 (LANA) – The official spokesman for the House of Representatives, Abdullah Blihaq, denied the accuracy of the figure contained in the Central Bank of Libya's report regarding the total expenditures of the House of Representatives during the period from January 1 to August 31, 2025, stressing that this error was corrected in coordination with the bank's management.

Blihaq explained, via an official notice posted on the House's official Facebook page, that the aforementioned report contained a typographical error indicating that the House of Representatives' expenditures amounted to 644,903,295.622 million Libyan dinars, which is an inaccurate figure that does not reflect the truth.

He pointed out that the Central Bank of Libya's management responded immediately and corrected the error. He emphasized the need to be aware of such information before circulating it, especially in light of the attempts of some pages and websites to exploit it in campaigns aimed at distorting the image of the House of Representatives in the eyes of the public.

Blihaq called on the media and public affairs experts to verify the accuracy and logic of financial statements, especially those related to sovereign institutions, before publishing them or relying on them for analysis and commentary, given their direct impact on citizens' awareness and confidence in these institutions.

He concluded the note by attaching a copy of the report before the error was corrected, and another after the official correction, in the interest of transparency and clarifying the truth to the public.
