Tripoli, September 7, 2025 (LANA) – The President of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, on Sunday handed over the "Shield of Resilience" to the delegation of the "Omar Al-Mukhtar" convoy, which is preparing to set sail as part of an international flotilla aiming to break the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip by the Israeli occupation forces.
This came during a meeting held by Takala at the Council's headquarters in the capital, Tripoli, in the presence of his deputies, Hassan Habib and Moussa Faraj. He expressed Libya's official and popular support for the rights of the Palestinian people, especially in light of the worsening humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.
According to an official post by the High Council of State on its Facebook page, the convoy delegation included a number of Arab and foreign activists, including British activists Yvonne Ridley and Margaret Scotland, along with Libyan activists Mohamed Al-Haddad, Kamal Al-Shami, and Nabil Al-Sukni.
During the meeting, the President of the High Council of State affirmed Libya's steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and its backing of all international efforts aimed at lifting the injustice against the Palestinian people and ending their suffering.
The Omar Al-Mukhtar convoy sets sail as part of an international fleet of more than fifty ships and boats, with the participation of activists and representatives from several European and Maghreb countries. This is a new attempt to break the ongoing blockade on Gaza, which has severely impacted the lives of civilians, especially children, women, and the elderly.
