Tripoli, September 3, 2025 (LANA) – The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Hannah Tetteh, met on Tuesday with a group of dignitaries and communication committees from the western region, in the presence of her Deputy for Political Affairs, Stephanie Khoury, and several members of the UN mission.

The meeting included representatives from the cities of Tripoli, Souq al-Juma, Tajoura, Zawiya, Misrata, Warshafana, Zintan, and the Western Mountains. This meeting is part of the UN mission's ongoing efforts to promote local dialogue and support efforts to achieve political and security stability in the country.

In her speech during the meeting, Tetteh expressed her concern about the current security situation in the capital, Tripoli, stressing that "this concern is shared by the parties gathered today, which reflects everyone's keenness to avoid escalation and promote the dialogue process."

She added, "We are all committed to supporting the Presidential Council's efforts to reach a negotiated settlement that leads to a peaceful solution that spares Libyans further pain and suffering. We believe it is possible to reach an agreement without firing a single bullet and without shedding a single drop of Libyan blood."

The UN envoy emphasized the importance of good intentions and prioritizing the interests of the Libyan people over any narrow interests, stressing that this "will contribute to achieving positive results that serve stability, rather than lead to further conflict and tragedy."

She also expressed her aspiration to continue working with the notables and dignitaries of the western region and to strengthen cooperation with various Libyan state institutions during the next phase.
