Riyadh, September 1, 2025 (LANA) - A delegation from the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) participated in the second meeting of the Arab Preparatory Group for the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26), which was organized on the sidelines of the Global Forum for Regulators (GSR-25) in Riyadh from August 31 to September 3, 2025.
The meeting discussed the most important topics and preparations for the Arab region ahead of the PP-26 conference, scheduled to be held in Doha, Qatar, from November 9 to 27, 2026. Discussions focused on coordinating Arab positions on regulatory issues, nominations, and related development policies.
In its intervention, the delegation stressed the need to unify Arab visions and coordinate among member states to ensure effective representation of the Arab region in the decision-making process within the ITU, affirming Libya's commitment to contributing seriously to joint Arab efforts.
This participation comes in light of the Authority's growing role at the regional and international levels, and its tireless efforts to enhance Libya's position among policy-making bodies in the field of communications and information technology.
