Head of the European Union Delegation meets members of the Constituent Assembly

Tripoli, August 27, 2025 (LANA) – The Head of the European Union Delegation to Libya, Nicola Orlando, held a meeting on Tuesday with the President, Vice-President, and several members of the Constitutional Drafting Assembly (CDA). The meeting discussed developments in the political roadmap proposed by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Hanna Tetteh.
The meeting discussed developments in the ongoing constitutional process and the pivotal role played by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) in supporting a comprehensive political process that strengthens national unity and guarantees citizens' right to choose their representatives through free and fair elections.
During the meeting, Orlando affirmed the European Union's full support for the efforts of the UN Mission in Libya, noting that the meeting provided an opportunity for an in-depth and constructive dialogue with the CDA members about the challenges and opportunities facing the next phase.
The meeting concluded with an affirmation of the shared commitment to continuing close work and coordination over the coming months, which Orlando described as "crucial" for the success of the political and constitutional process in Libya.
