Tripoli, August 27, 2025 (LANA) – The Ministry of Health announced the imminent launch of an advanced national electronic system for dispensing and tracking insulin medications. The system is directly linked to citizens' national ID numbers. This comes in implementation of the instructions of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, and under the direct supervision of the Undersecretary General and Acting Minister of Health.

The new system aims to stop duplication of treatment and limit any leaks in the dispensing of insulin medications, ensuring that treatment reaches those truly entitled to it.

A post from the Ministry on its official page explained that the system will be operated within health facilities and will include doctors, pharmacists, and data entry clerks. Treatment is dispensed only after a medical examination and dosage determination by a specialist physician.

The Pharmacy Department at the Ministry of Health will also fully supervise the dispensing mechanism, determine needs, and monitor medication recycling processes. This step aims to enhance the efficiency of national stockpile management and ensure the sustainability of vital drug supplies for diabetes patients.

The Ministry of Health confirmed that this step is part of a package of regulatory and reform measures aimed at raising transparency and improving pharmaceutical and treatment services provided to citizens across the country.
