EU Ambassador affirms support for elections and roadmap

Tripoli, August 25, 2025 (LANA) – The European Union Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, held a fruitful meeting with the Vice-President of the Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni, in the capital, Tripoli. They discussed the latest political and security developments and ways to strengthen the partnership between Libya and the European Union.

Ambassador Orlando explained, in a tweet on his official account on X, that during the meeting, he reiterated the European Union's support for the proposed roadmap, which aims to end the political crisis in the country and push towards holding national elections.

The ambassador described the coming weeks as "crucial," calling on all stakeholders to prioritize the interests of citizens over any factional or personal considerations, stressing the need to support the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya.

The European Ambassador also expressed his concern about what he described as unilateral measures that could undermine Libya's territorial integrity, affirming the European Union's unwavering commitment to supporting Libya's sovereignty, its democratic path, and achieving shared prosperity.
