The Chairman of the Electoral Commission discusses with the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly the mechanisms for the constitutional referendum.

Tripoli, August 25, 2025 (LANA) – The Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Imad Al-Sayeh, received on Monday at the Commission's headquarters in Tripoli the Chairman of the Constitutional Drafting Assembly (CDA), Imraj Ali Nouh. During the meeting, several issues related to the constitutional process in Libya were discussed.

The discussions focused on the referendum on the draft constitution, as well as reviewing mechanisms for enhancing cooperation and coordination between the Commission and the CDA, which would contribute to consolidating the democratic process and paving the way for the upcoming electoral entitlements based on a solid constitutional foundation.

According to a post published on the Commission's official Facebook page, Al-Sayeh emphasized the pivotal role played by the CDA in establishing constitutional foundations. He emphasized that a consensual constitution represents the primary guarantee for holding free and fair elections, reiterating the Commission's commitment to providing the necessary technical and advisory support to ensure the success of this process.

For his part, Noah praised the efforts of the High National Elections Commission in supporting the electoral process, stressing the importance of continued coordination between the two institutions to meet the aspirations of the Libyan people to build a state of law and institutions.
