Tripoli, August 25, 2025 (LANA) - Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Council, Mr. Musa Al-Koni, discussed on Monday with the European Union Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, mechanisms for the EU's support for the Presidential Council's efforts to ensure the success of the political process aimed at finding effective solutions to the crisis, as the EU serves as a unifying umbrella for Libya that preserves its unity.
The Presidential Council's media office quoted Al-Koni as saying that the Presidential Council welcomes all efforts and initiatives aimed at achieving stability and unity in the country, stressing that this can only be achieved through a unified agreement among the political parties, a Libyan-Libyan agreement, and a firm desire to overcome the current political deadlock, with support from the United Nations Support Mission and the international community.
Al-Koni said that Libya will not enjoy stability unless it is under the umbrella of a single government with unified institutions that will ward off the looming specter of division, which threatens to have disastrous repercussions for Libya and its various components. He referred to the southern regions that are marginalized and excluded from the Libyan equation, which has become divided between East and West.
For his part, Orlando affirmed the European Union's welcome of the roadmap announced by the United Nations for achieving stability, given the importance of the Libyan issue, which is at the forefront of European countries' concerns. Despite its seriousness and complexity, the European Union places it at the top of its priorities for Europe's security and stability.
