Libyan Scouts Return to the Forefront: A National Camp Filled with National and Pan-Arab Connotations

Tripoli, August 25, 2025 (LANA) - The Minister of Youth in the Government of National Unity, Fathallah Al-Zani, blew the whistle on Sunday evening to launch the fifth National Scout Camp, held from the Roman Theater at the International Scout and Guide Training Center in the "Jouddaym Forest," announcing the return of the largest youth scout gathering in Libya after an absence of more than a quarter century.

The opening ceremony was attended by a number of prominent national and Arab figures, including the Vice President of the High Council of State, the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, the Commander-in-Chief of the General Movement of Scouts and Guides, the Head of the Tourist Police, and the Secretary-General of the Arab Scout Organization. Heads of scout delegations from Palestine, Tunisia, Algeria, Lebanon, Morocco, and Egypt, as well as representatives from all Libyan commissions, also participated in the event.

In his speech at the ceremony, the Commander-in-Chief of the Scout Movement praised the great efforts made by the Ministry of Youth in supporting this major national event, commending the cooperation of all parties to ensure its success. He emphasized that this success reflects Libya's prestigious position in the Arab scouting arena.

For his part, the Minister of Youth, Fathallah Al-Zani, delivered a moving speech affirming the Ministry's full commitment to supporting the Scout Movement, describing it as "one of the noblest youth educational movements." He praised the joint cooperation between the Ministry's sectors and the camp leadership to ensure the success of this event, noting that naming the sub-camps after cities of Palestinian struggle reflects the identity of Libyan youth and their solidarity with the Palestinian cause, explaining: "These are the Libyan youth, for those who don't know."

Representatives of the Palestinian Scout Mission also delivered a speech expressing the depth of fraternal ties between Arab peoples, praising the symbolic initiative, which reflects the unity of the Arab ranks and the solidarity of the Scout Movement with the struggle of the Palestinian people.

The ceremony included artistic and heritage performances that reflected the values ​​of the Scouting movement and the Ministry of Youth's unlimited support for Libyan Scouts. The performances featured moving, expressive paintings highlighting the struggle of Scouts in Gaza.

The ceremony concluded with the entry of the Libyan Commissions' flags in a magnificent display, marking the launch of the Fifth National Scout Camp, the largest youth Scouting event held in Libya in decades.
