The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Local Government for Municipal Affairs in the Government of National Unity meets with the Union of Municipalities of the Western Mountains.

Tripoli, August 25, 2025 (LANA) - The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Local Government for Municipal Affairs in the Government of National Unity, Mustafa Ahmed Salem, held an expanded meeting yesterday that included the Union of Municipalities of the Western Mountains, the Great Man-Made River Project Implementation and Management Authority, the head and members of the Authority's Administrative Committee, the Director of the Housing and Utilities Authority branch in the Western Mountains, the Director General of the Hasawna-Jafara Plain System, the Director General of the Ghadames-Zuwara-Zawiya System, and the Director of the Hasawna System Control Department.

The meeting, held at the Mizda Municipality headquarters, discussed the requirements for supplying the Western Mountains municipalities with water from the Great Man-Made River systems extending along the Abu Zayan-Rahibat route, as well as the resumption of work on the Ghadames System to supply the areas extending from Nalut to Al-Haraba and the municipalities of Batin Al-Jabal.

During the meeting, the Great Man-Made River Authority presented a visual presentation covering the general and operational status of the Abu Zayan-Rahibat project and the Ghadames-Zuwara-Zawiya system. The presentation reviewed existing challenges and explored practical solutions to ensure the stability of water supplies to these areas. It emphasized the importance of coordination between the Great Man-Made River Authority and relevant governmental and local authorities to clarify responsibilities and unify efforts to meet the needs of the population in an urgent and sustainable manner.
