Tripoli, August 24, 2025 (LANA) - The head of the Illegal Immigrants Shelter East of Tripoli, Brigadier General Noureddine Al-Qaritli, discussed today with the Iraqi Ambassador to Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, and the Consul General at the Embassy, Mazhar Al-Saray, ways to cooperate to address the situation of illegal immigrants of Iraqi nationality, ensuring the facilitation of their deportation and return to their country.
During the meeting, the head of the center provided a detailed explanation of the services provided by the center, including housing, food, and healthcare, which cover all residents, including Iraqi immigrants who were rescued while attempting to migrate across the Libyan coast.
Brigadier General Noureddine Al-Qaritli praised the role of Iraqi consular affairs in following up on its nationals and working diligently to provide them with facilities by issuing travel documents and tickets for their return to their country.
For his part, the Iraqi Ambassador emphasized the depth of fraternal relations between the two countries, commending the efforts made by local security authorities in combating illegal immigration.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Iraqi Ambassador and his accompanying delegation were briefed on the conditions of the Iraqi migrant inmates, pledging to expedite the necessary procedures for their voluntary repatriation to their country.
