Takala discusses with Khoury the UN roadmap for resolving the political crisis in Libya.

Tripoli, August 24, 2025 (LANA) - Head of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, discussed on Sunday in Tripoli with the Deputy Special Representative for Political Affairs of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Khoury, the UN roadmap for resolving the political crisis in Libya.

During the meeting, the UN roadmap presented by UN envoy Hanna Tetteh to the UN Security Council was reviewed. The roadmap aims to break the political deadlock, support national dialogue, and unify state institutions.

The meeting also discussed how to address the status of the High National Elections Commission, a sovereign position whose designation is determined by the Political Agreement, enabling it to conduct parliamentary and presidential elections without legal or constitutional impediments. It also addressed how to address the contentious issues in the electoral laws.
