The West Coast Military Region commends the efforts of its regular units in securing the municipal elections in the coastal region.

Tripoli, August 23, 2025 (LANA) - The Western Coast Military Region announced the participation of its military units in securing the electoral process at the targeted polling stations for the municipal council elections for the municipalities affiliated with the Zawiya Electoral Administration Office. These stations included: (Central Zawiya, Downtown Zawiya, Western Zawiya, Northern Zawiya, Sabratha, Surman, and Bir al-Ghanam).
The region's media office stated on its official Facebook page that security efforts began from the start of the ballot boxes and electoral materials being brought from the headquarters of the High National Elections Commission in Tripoli, all the way to the distribution centers at the polling stations, to ensure their safe and orderly arrival.
It also confirmed that the security operation was carried out through the participation of its military units, including the 52nd Infantry Brigade, the 103rd Infantry Battalion, the 33rd Special Operations Battalion, the 22nd Thunderbolt Battalion, the 138th Infantry Battalion, and the 135th Infantry Battalion. This is part of its efforts to protect polling stations and provide a safe and calm environment for voters, enhancing democratic participation and supporting local stability.
