Al-Lafi meets with the Japan-African Union Parliamentary Friendship League

Yokohama, August 22, 2025 (LANA) - Member of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, discussed with the Chairman of the Japan-African Union Parliamentary Friendship Association, Ichiro Aisawa, ways to restore economic activity and enhance cooperation between Libya and Japan.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the Tokyo International Summit on African Development (TICAD 9), was attended by Member of Parliament Ayman Saif Al-Nasr, Secretary-General of the Association, Hideki Makihara, and Yuichiro Fukazawa, the official responsible for the Libyan file in the Japanese House of Representatives.
The meeting discussed ways to restore economic activity and enhance cooperation between Libya and Japan, with emphasis on the importance of lifting the travel ban imposed on Japanese citizens, which would contribute to encouraging direct investment and engaging in reconstruction and development projects within Libya.
The discussions also addressed prospects for cooperation in the fields of health, investment, and supporting peace and national reconciliation efforts, as shared priorities.
The two sides agreed to explore mechanisms for forming a joint parliamentary committee to enhance channels of consultation and coordination between the two legislative institutions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Representative Ayman Seif El-Nasr extended an official invitation to the association's members to visit Libya and take a closer look at the opportunities available in various sectors.
