Benghazi, August 22, 2025 (LANA) - The Libyan government, appointed by the House of Representatives, welcomed the roadmap announced by UN envoy Hanna Tetteh during her briefing to the Security Council on Thursday evening. This was in accordance with one of its core elements, namely the necessity of forming a new, unified executive authority across all Libyan territory.

The government said in a statement issued Thursday night that this would ensure leadership of the next phase and the unification of the state's public institutions, leading to the completion of general and municipal elections.

The statement read, "The Libyan government renews its steadfast commitment to the demands of the Libyan people and affirms its support for the voice and will of the people calling for the formation of a new, unified executive authority, in order to achieve their aspirations for building a stable state based on the principle of the peaceful transfer of power through free and fair parliamentary and presidential elections."

The Libyan government affirmed its readiness to cooperate with all national and international parties to serve Libya's supreme interests and preserve its sovereignty and stability.
