The National Oil Corporation discusses the results of a US company's study to develop the Zawiya refinery

Tripoli, August 18, 2025 (LANA) – The Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) reviewed on Monday the results of the economic feasibility study for the development of the Zawiya refinery, prepared by the American company Honeywell UOP.
During the meeting, the company's results were reviewed, describing them as very encouraging. They confirmed the potential for developing the refinery and modernizing its operational systems, enabling it to cover a large portion of the local market's gasoline needs.
The results revealed that this modernization will significantly contribute to reducing dependence on imports and the significant financial costs allocated to subsidizing imported fuel, enhancing economic stability in this vital area.
The meeting also discussed the development of the oil industry in Libya in general, emphasizing the need to continue periodic maintenance of refineries and their accessories on time and periodically to ensure continued production and prevent disruption or temporary shutdowns.
