Tripoli, August 15, 2025 (LANA) - The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) condemned in the strongest terms the attacks it described as criminal, which targeted the West Coast Electoral Administration Office building at dawn on Friday, resulting in its burning. The Commission also condemned the attack on the Zawiya Electoral Administration Office, which resulted in the burning of the main warehouse containing voting materials and the training hall designated for the qualification of electoral cadres.

The Commission affirmed that these acts constitute a blatant assault on the electoral process and an attempt to deprive Libyan citizens of exercising their rights. It emphasized that such attacks will not deter it from fulfilling its national duty to organize free and fair elections in accordance with the highest standards.

The Commission called on security agencies to assume their full responsibility in prosecuting the perpetrators of these crimes and bringing them to justice, and to ensure the protection of its offices throughout the country.

The HNEC renewed its call for unity and solidarity to protect the electoral process, stressing that protecting the will of Libyan voters is everyone's responsibility.
