Tripoli, August 13, 2025 (LANA) – The Director of the Law Enforcement Department at the General Directorate of Security Operations, Major General Abdul Hakim Al-Khitouni, held a meeting on Wednesday with the department members tasked with implementing the security plan for securing the municipal council elections in the capital, Tripoli.
During the meeting, Major General Al-Khitouni stressed the need to fully adhere to the issued instructions and operate according to the highest levels of professionalism. He also emphasized the need to enhance cooperation and coordination with other security agencies and the High National Elections Commission, avoid overlapping of responsibilities, ensure the security of polling stations, regulate traffic, and facilitate voter access.
He emphasized that these efforts are part of the commitment to ensuring the success of this democratic event, reflecting a positive image of the security efforts exerted to serve the nation and its citizens.
During the meeting, details of the joint security plan issued by the Tripoli Security Directorate and the relevant authorities were discussed. This plan aims to secure the electoral process, scheduled to begin next Saturday, August 16, ensuring the safety of polling stations and the smooth running of the electoral process.
