Tetteh meets with British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa.

London, August 6, 2025 (LANA) – The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Hanna Tetteh, met yesterday, Tuesday, in London, with the British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, Hamish Falconer, and a number of senior officials from the British Foreign Office. This meeting is part of a series of diplomatic meetings she is holding with international partners in support of the political process in Libya.
The meeting discussed the latest political and security developments in Libya and the region, as well as the upcoming briefing to be delivered by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to the UN Security Council, scheduled for August 21. The discussions also addressed the expected steps for launching the new roadmap prepared by the mission to support the Libyan political process.
Tetteh expressed her deep appreciation for the United Kingdom's continued support for the mission's efforts, commending London's role in promoting stability and contributing to advancing political solutions in Libya.
According to a post published by the mission on the "X" platform on Wednesday, Tetteh briefed British officials during the meeting on the latest developments related to the political situation and reviewed the mission's efforts in the field of public awareness, in addition to its initiatives aimed at activating international coordination mechanisms and expanding the base of effective partnerships to support Libya.
For his part, British Minister Hamish Falconer reiterated his country's full support for the Special Representative and the efforts of the United Nations Mission, stressing the importance of continuing close coordination between the two sides in the coming period, especially with the start of implementation of the UN roadmap aimed at achieving stability and promoting peaceful solutions, enabling Libya to move forward towards a comprehensive and sustainable political process.
