Tripoli, August 2, 2025 (LANA) – The European Union Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, revealed his meeting with Khaled Al-Mishri, without specifying the location of the meeting, noting that they had a frank conversation about the current political situation in the country.
Orlando explained, in a tweet posted on his X account on Friday evening, that during the meeting, he stressed the importance of preserving the unity and integrity of Libyan institutions, in light of the major challenges currently facing the country.
The European Ambassador indicated that Al-Mishri's contribution will be "crucial" to ensuring an effective and constructive role for the High Council of State during the next phase, particularly in supporting the efforts of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations aimed at reviving the political process.
Orlando reiterated the European Union's commitment to working with "all responsible actors" to enhance the aspirations of the Libyan people for peace and prosperity, emphasizing the shared European interest in achieving stability and development in Libya.
The European Ambassador concluded his tweet by emphasizing his agreement with Al-Mishri to "remain in close contact and continue consultations over the coming months."
