The Minister of Oil and Gas discusses with the Japanese Ambassador ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector.

Tripoli, July 30, 2025 (LANA) – Minister of Oil and Gas Khalifa Abdul-Sadig discussed with Japanese Ambassador to Libya Shimura the possibility of cooperation with leading Japanese companies, particularly in implementing oil and gas pipeline development projects.

During a meeting held today in Tripoli, the two sides also discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of training and capacity building for Libyan cadres, which would contribute to supporting development paths and enhancing institutional performance.

The meeting also addressed arrangements for the Oil Minister's visit to Japan during the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), held in Yokohama, Japan, in August 2025. The importance of this visit in opening new horizons for partnership and cooperation between the two countries was emphasized.

The Minister expressed the Ministry's interest in Japan's distinguished experience in the fields of renewable energy, particularly hydrogen technology and solar energy, stressing that Libya seeks to diversify energy sources and achieve sustainability in this vital sector.
