Tripoli, July 30, 2025 (LANA) - The European Union Delegation and the diplomatic missions of EU Member States to Libya congratulated the new presidency of the High Council of State, headed by Mohamed Takala.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the European Union Delegation and the diplomatic missions of EU Member States to Libya noted the announcement regarding the election of the new presidency of the High Council of State and the recognition issued by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).

The statement affirmed UNSMIL's call for constructive engagement to promote internal consensus and enable the Council to fulfill its essential role within the Libyan institutional framework, expressing its support for UN-facilitated efforts to overcome the political stalemate and move towards inclusive national elections.

The Mission stressed its strong support for a Libyan-led and Libyan-owned political process facilitated by UNSMIL, reaffirming its strong commitment to supporting the Libyan people's aspirations for peace, unity, and accountable governance.
