The Planning Institute discusses with Libyan experts in the field of smart cities ways to develop sustainable development plans in the country.

Tripoli, July 28, 2025 (LANA) – The Director General of the Planning Institute, Mustafa Al-Arqat, held a meeting this morning with a number of Libyan experts specializing in smart city development.

The meeting, which was attended by the Vice Chairman of the Institute's Sustainable Development Committee, discussed enhancing cooperation and consultation with Libyan national competencies and exploring ways to employ smart city technologies within sustainable development plans in Libya. This will contribute to supporting reconstruction efforts and developing urban infrastructure in accordance with the latest technological and environmental standards.

The meeting witnessed an extensive discussion on the current challenges and future opportunities for establishing efficient and sustainable smart cities, as well as the importance of developing the necessary regulatory and legislative frameworks to embrace this modern trend.

During the meeting, Al-Arqat affirmed the Planning Institute's commitment to supporting national initiatives aimed at keeping pace with digital transformations, emphasizing the importance of leveraging Libyan expertise at home and abroad to achieve this goal.
