Tripoli, July 27, 2025 (LANA) – The Libyan Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdul Mutalib Thabet, held a meeting this morning with the President of the Union of Libyan Students Studying in Egypt to discuss the financial challenges facing Libyan students studying in Egypt.
The meeting, held at the embassy headquarters in Cairo and attended by the advisor at the Libyan delegation, Ramadan Al-Barghouthi, and the financial controller at the embassy, Fathi Jumaa, discussed ways to address these challenges and obstacles to ensure their academic and living stability.
The meeting also reviewed a number of urgent issues, most notably the postponement of the deduction of financial advances granted to students during the first quarter of 2025. This is to ease the financial burden on them and expedite the disbursement of tuition fees for students whose dissertation defense dates have been set.
The attendees stressed the need to settle dues for the 2023/2024 academic year urgently to avoid the accumulation of arrears, which could impact students' educational progress, according to a post published by the Libyan Embassy in Cairo on its official Facebook page.
Ambassador Thabet stressed the importance of direct communication with scholarship students, noting the need to schedule a close meeting with Libyan students studying in Egypt to strengthen communication channels and address their concerns.
This meeting comes within the framework of the Libyan Embassy in Cairo's commitment to supporting Libyan students, ensuring the appropriate conditions for the successful completion of their studies, and overcoming any obstacles they may face during their scholarship period.
