UNSMIL: Tetteh and Boulos discuss the negative impacts of political divisions and security instability on the Libyan economy.

Tripoli, July 26, 2025 (LANA) – The United Nations mission reported that the meeting of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Hanna Tetteh, on Thursday, in Tripoli, with the Special Advisor to the President of the United States for African Affairs, Massad Boulos, and his accompanying delegation, discussed political and security developments in Libya.

The mission stated that Tetteh discussed with Boulos the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) regarding advancing the political process, particularly the recommendations of the Advisory Commission and engagement with Libyan leaders and the Libyan people. They also discussed the negative impacts of political divisions and security instability on the Libyan economy. They also touched on the necessary economic reforms that would enhance a sustainable environment for the private sector and attract foreign investment.

According to the mission, the United States expressed its support for the United Nations efforts to promote the political process, and the two sides stressed the importance of coordinating efforts in this regard.
