Al-Sayeh meets with the Deputy UN Envoy.

Tripoli, July 21, 2025 (LANA) – The Chairman of the High National Elections Commission, Dr. Emad Al-Sayeh, met this Monday morning with the Deputy Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ms. Stephanie Khoury, and her accompanying delegation.
This meeting, held at the Commission's headquarters in Tripoli, was devoted to following up on developments in the implementation of the municipal council elections (Group II - 2025), which have entered the preparation phase for the polls, with the completion of the voter card distribution process approaching.
During the meeting, the Commission's technical and logistical readiness to implement this event was discussed, as well as the existing challenges at the political and technical levels, particularly with regard to activating the components of international support, supervised by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), to ensure a stable and integrated implementation environment.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Imad Al-Sayeh, emphasized the importance of international partners' support for the continuation of the electoral process. He noted that the Commission is working according to a well-thought-out timetable, adhering to the highest standards of integrity and transparency, and in coordination with all relevant parties.
For her part, the Deputy UN Envoy reiterated the United Nations' commitment to supporting the Commission in carrying out its duties and providing all means of technical and advisory support to ensure the success of the electoral process, considering it a pivotal step towards strengthening democracy and consolidating stability in Libya.
