Tripoli, 20 July 2025 (Lana): Spokesman of the House of Representatives (HoR), Abdullah Blihaq, confirmed that the preparatory meetings of the Presidium of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), held in preparation for the sixth plenary session of the PAP in South Africa, witnessed, for the first time, the adoption of a permanent item on the agenda of each general session of the Parliament, dedicated to discussing the issue of sanctions imposed on the African continent, in addition to the Palestinian issue.

Blihaq stated in a press statement today that the adoption of this item came at the initiative of the representative of the HoR in the PAP and member of the Presidium of the Parliament, Youssef Al-Fakhri, who participated in the preparatory meetings, which also included the discussion and approval of the minutes of the previous session and the protocol amended by the African Union.

He added that the meetings witnessed extensive discussions regarding the extension of the Presidium's mandate, during which it was agreed to amend some items and subsequently adopt the agenda for the general session, which will be held from July 16 to 31 in South Africa.

Belihaq highlighted that the inclusion of a permanent item to discuss sanctions imposed on the continent represents an advanced African stance on issues of sovereignty and development and enhances the voice of the African peoples in regional and international forums, stressing that the Palestinian issue will remain a key item in every session, embodying the African Parliament's unwavering stance on justice and people's rights.
