Al-Namroush discusses in Italy enhancing military cooperation between Tripoli and Rome.

Tripoli, July 19, 2025 (LANA) – The Deputy Chief of Staff of the Government of National Unity and Commander of the Western Coast Military Region, Lieutenant General Salah al-Din al-Namroush, paid an official visit to Italy on July 15 to discuss ways to enhance military cooperation between the two countries.

Al-Namroush was accompanied during the visit by the Director of the Office of the Minister of Defense, where he met with the Chief of General Staff of the Italian Army, as part of the Libyan-Italian Military Cooperation Committee.

A statement issued by the Media Office of the Western Coast Military Region stated that the meeting addressed several issues of joint cooperation, most notably training programs and improving the competence of Libyan army personnel, as part of efforts to develop technical and military capabilities.

During the visit, a delegation from the Ministry of Defense of the Government of National Unity inspected the air base on the island of Sardinia and was briefed on the practical training programs provided by the Italian forces, within the framework of bilateral cooperation between the two countries' defense ministries.
