The Criminal Research and Training Center concludes a workshop on combating human trafficking and migrant smuggling.

Tripoli, July 16, 2025 (LANA) – A workshop on combating human trafficking and migrant smuggling concluded at the headquarters of the Criminal Research and Training Center. The workshop, organized in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), targeted 20 prosecutors.

The workshop, which was attended by experts from the Center's partners, discussed the complexities of migration, migrant smuggling, and human trafficking, their links to organized crime, and facilitating the identification of trafficking victims from the perspective of national legislation and relevant international instruments.

Participants also reviewed the pivotal preventive and protective role of the Public Prosecution Authority against these transnational organized crimes, measures to promote human rights and the rule of law, and the Authority's leadership in efforts to combat and dismantle migrant smuggling and human trafficking networks, and to prevent those involved from escaping prosecution through international cooperation mechanisms in criminal matters.
