Tripoli, July 16, 2025 (LANA) – The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Ms. Hanna Tetteh, held a consultative meeting with fifteen representatives from various regions in the west of the country.

The UN mission stated in a statement on its Facebook page that the meeting came within the framework of continuing to discuss the security situation and exchange views on ways to move forward in developing a political roadmap.

The mission explained that among the participants in the meeting, which was held at the mission's headquarters last Monday, were mayors and social figures.

According to the mission, the participants in the meeting stressed the need to end the transitional phase and emphasized that any political process must proceed in an environment free of security tensions.

The meeting participants also proposed withdrawing weapons from Tripoli to protect civilian lives, and securing the capital by state security institutions, according to the UN mission.
