Tripoli, July 16, 2025 (LANA) – The Chargé d'Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Libya, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sahaf, announced the success of the embassy's efforts in securing the release of an Iraqi citizen who was detained by Libyan authorities for entering the country illegally.
In a statement published by the embassy on its Facebook page, Al-Sahaf explained that the release came as a result of intensive contacts and follow-up conducted by the embassy with the relevant security authorities in the Government of National Unity.
He confirmed that the embassy provided the necessary healthcare to the released citizen, issued him a laissez-passer, and provided him with a free ticket to facilitate his voluntary return to Iraq, in coordination with the Foreign Relations Committee of the Iraqi Parliament.
He indicated that these efforts are part of the implementation of the voluntary return policy pursued by the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, out of concern for the safety of citizens and facilitating their return to their country with dignity and safety.
