Tripoli, July 14, 2025 (LANA) - British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, Hamish Faulkner, affirmed that Britain is closely following developments in the Libyan situation.
This came during a meeting with the President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, in Tripoli on Monday, in the presence of the British Ambassador to Libya, Martin Longden, and a number of accompanying officials.
The British Minister of State stated that his country is fully prepared to support the Libyan political process at all stages, in order to achieve a sustainable solution that restores Libya's security, sovereignty, and political and economic stability, according to the media office of the President of the Council.
According to the media office, the British Minister praised the efforts made by the President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, to promote the peace process and bring the views of the Libyan parties closer together.
The meeting addressed bilateral relations and ways to develop them to serve the interests of both parties. The meeting also discussed the latest political, economic, and security developments in the country, as well as the role of the Council President in issuing two decisions to form committees concerned with the truce and security and military arrangements, in addition to a human rights committee to monitor prison conditions and the safety of detention facilities, as part of his efforts to consolidate the ceasefire and ensure stability in the capital, Tripoli.
