Dabaiba follows up with the Oil Minister on plans to increase production and the southern refinery project.

Tripoli, July 13, 2025 (LANA) – Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, met with the acting Minister of Oil and Gas, Khalifa Abdul Sadiq, on Sunday to discuss a number of strategic issues in the oil sector, including plans to increase production and develop energy infrastructure.
The Prime Minister's media office stated that the meeting, attended by Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation, Ali Al-Abed, discussed the conditions of oil sector workers, ways to improve the work environment, and the development of training and rehabilitation programs, with the aim of raising the efficiency of national human resources and ensuring sustainable operations at production sites.
The meeting reviewed the progress of the Southern Refinery project and reviewed the stages of work progress. It also monitored oil exploration activity in various regions and discussed the results of the public bidding round conducted by the National Oil Corporation, which has attracted interest from major international companies.
The office added that the meeting also addressed the results of Libya's participation in the Ninth Scientific Symposium of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), which was recently held in Vienna. The meeting's outcomes and future directions for the oil industry were reviewed, as well as Libya's role within the organization.
