Tripoli, July 13, 2025 (LANA) - The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, discussed on Sunday with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Libya, Hanna Tetteh, accompanied by the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Stephanie Khoury, and the German Ambassador to Libya, Ralf Tarraf. They discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the government and the United Nations, as well as mechanisms to advance the political process.
The Prime Minister's media office stated on its official page that Tetteh welcomed the release of a number of detainees who had been released after years of unlawful detention, describing it as a positive step towards supporting the path of justice and national reconciliation.
During the meeting, the German Ambassador briefed on the outcomes of the meeting of the International Follow-up Committee on Libya in Berlin, which was held last June.
For his part, Dabaiba reiterated the government's commitment to cooperating with the United Nations Mission and supporting its efforts to reach a comprehensive settlement and hold elections according to a constitutional basis agreed upon by all Libyans.
He stressed, according to the media office, that the Government of National Unity will continue to implement its national strategy aimed at subjecting all institutions to the rule of law, thus preserving the state's prestige and unifying decision-making authority.
