Libya and Nigeria discuss cooperation on gas projects and export pipelines to the European market.

Tripoli, July 12, 2025 (LANA) - The Minister of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity, Khalifa Abdul-Sadig, discussed cooperation on gas projects and the extension of export pipelines to the European market with the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Heineken Lukpobiri.

During the meeting, held on the sidelines of their participation in the Ninth Global Symposium of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), held in Vienna over the past two days, the two sides reviewed opportunities for bilateral cooperation in gas projects and the joint role that Libya and Nigeria can play in supporting global energy security, for the benefit of both countries and the region.

The meeting also addressed the possibilities of advancing the gas pipeline project between Libya and Nigeria and exporting gas to the European market. Coordination was also discussed for a high-level delegation from the Nigerian Ministry of Petroleum to visit Libya in the coming period to monitor progress on this vital issue.

The meeting was attended from the Libyan side by the Director of the Technical Information Department, the Libyan Governor to OPEC, and the Director of the Ministry's International Cooperation Office. From the Nigerian side, the meeting was attended by the Executive Secretary of the PTDF and the Technical Advisor to the Minister for Exploration and Production at the Nigerian Ministry of Petroleum.
