Libya chairs the 119th session of the Council of Arab Economic Unity in Cairo.

Cairo, July 11, 2025 (LANA) - Libya chaired the (119) Ministerial Session of the Council of Arab Economic Unity, which was held on Thursday at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
The session was chaired by Engineer Essam Al-Aoul, representing the Ministry of Economy and Trade of the Government of National Unity. The session was attended by ministers and representatives of member states.
In his speech, Al-Aoul emphasized the importance of strengthening joint Arab economic action through new mechanisms capable of addressing the shortcomings faced by the Council over the past years. He called for the formation of specialized committees to follow up on the implementation of projects and decisions issued by the Council, in order to achieve the desired development goals.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Council, Mohammadi Al-Ni, highlighted the historical dimension of the session, noting that it represents an extension of more than 60 years of joint Arab economic action since the beginning of discussions on the Economic Unity Agreement.
The Secretary-General stressed the need for member states to provide political and material support to the Council to ensure it fulfills its role in promoting Arab economic integration and implementing relevant resolutions and agreements. He praised the vital role played by the League of Arab States in this regard.
The session witnessed the adoption of the recommendations of the preparatory committees and the follow-up of the implementation of previous Council resolutions, which will enhance economic integration efforts among member states and contribute to advancing comprehensive Arab economic development.
