Tripoli, July 11, 2025 (LANA) – The Public Prosecution ordered the detention of an officer who managed police stations operating within the Abu Salim Municipality from 2016 to 2025.
The Public Prosecutor's Office stated that the Public Prosecutor, on the committee investigating violations attributed to some members of the Stability Support Apparatus, who investigated evidence of the officer's abuse of the authority entrusted to him during his duties, found evidence of the defendant's intent to withhold information related to murders committed within the scope of his work; his directing his subordinates to refrain from recording the data of those accused of committing human rights violations (murder, kidnapping, and deprivation of liberty) despite investigators being able to identify them; and his refusal to report crimes of which he was aware, in order to prevent the initiation of precautionary measures at the time.
The Office explained that upon completion of the investigator's interrogation of the defendant, he decided to remand him in custody pending investigation.
