Tripoli, July 11, 2025 (LANA) – The United Nations in Libya expressed its appreciation to the Libyan News Agency for hosting a media roundtable on Thursday on the 2024 UN Annual Results Report.

The United Nations Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) stated in a post on its official page on Friday that this event provided a valuable platform for direct dialogue between the UN team and local media, with the aim of highlighting the UN's development and humanitarian work in Libya, emphasizing that the UN's role extends beyond politics to include providing tangible support to communities.

The event was attended by Ines Choma, Deputy Special Representative, Resident Coordinator, and Humanitarian Coordinator, along with representatives from UNICEF Libya, IOM Libya, UNDP Libya, and UN Women Libya.

The Mission noted that the journalists participating in the roundtable raised key questions about current challenges in Libya and the chronic slowdown in development. They also emphasized the need for quality and sustainable support for local authorities and the importance of enhancing interaction and communication with local media.

Ines Choma thanked all journalists and media professionals who showed genuine interest in the work of the United Nations in Libya and contributed to bringing these efforts to the wider public. He also expressed his appreciation to the Libyan News Agency and its head, Abdul Basit Abu Dayya, for hosting this event and contributing to bringing the UN story to the public, including through the presentation of the 2024 Results Report.
