Tripoli, July 11, 2025 (LANA) – The European Union Delegation to Libya and the diplomatic missions of EU Member States in Libya announced their support for the UN mission's statement calling on all Libyan parties to urgently de-escalate, resolve conflicts peacefully, and adhere to the ceasefire and agreed-upon security arrangements.
This came in a joint statement published by the mission on its Facebook page, following reports of continued military build-up in Tripoli and its environs.
The statement renewed its call on all Libyan parties to ensure the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure from harm, in accordance with international law.
The mission also affirmed its commitment to accountability for all actions that threaten peace and the safety of civilians, or harm national institutions or the integrity of the political process.
The statement added that the European Union stands ready to support efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions. The statement urged all parties to engage in constructive dialogue with the support of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya.
