Algeria announces the dismantling of an international network smuggling vehicles from Libya to Algeria.

Tripoli, July 11, 2025 (LANA) - Algerian authorities announced the dismantling of an international criminal network involved in smuggling vehicles from Libya to Algeria using fraudulent methods.

The Algerian police explained in a statement that the vehicles were smuggled from Libya, with the serial numbers on the exterior bodywork being forged. They noted that the operation was carried out as part of the fight against transnational organized crime.

The statement added that the operation resulted in the arrest of five individuals, aged between 35 and 52, and the recovery of eight vehicles of various brands, including two vehicles used in the criminal activity.

The statement added that the network smuggled vehicles from Libya after falsifying their data and registering them with several municipalities in various Algerian provinces. They were then resold and transferred to other provinces to mislead security services.
