The Libyan ambassador to Rome receives the families of detainees in Italian prisons.

Rome, July 9, 2025 (LANA) – Libyan Ambassador to Italy, Muhannad Younis, received a number of families of Libyan detainees in Italian prisons. The families came to the embassy to meet their relatives in Italian correctional facilities.
During the meeting, the ambassador expressed the embassy's keenness to facilitate these humanitarian visits, stressing that the embassy directly arranged and fully supervised their organization, in coordination with the relevant Italian authorities, ensuring their smooth implementation and in an appropriate atmosphere that contributes to strengthening family and social ties.
The ambassador also briefed the attendees on the latest developments related to this issue and the ongoing procedures in this regard, reiterating the embassy's commitment to continued follow-up and communication with the relevant authorities.
The embassy affirmed its continued efforts to guarantee the rights of Libyan detainees in Italian prisons. It also reiterated its commitment to communicating with the Italian side regarding the adoption of the agreement on the transfer of persons sentenced to custodial sentences, signed between the two countries, in preparation for its entry into force as soon as possible, enabling them to complete their sentences within Libyan territory.
