Khoury visits Bani Walid and meets with its municipal and social council

Bani Walid, June 5, 2025 (LANA) - The Deputy Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Stephanie Khoury, and her accompanying delegation held an expanded meeting today, Saturday, with the mayor and members of the Bani Walid Municipal Council. The meeting was attended by the Social Council of the Bani Walid and Werfella Tribes, a number of university faculty members, and political and human rights activists in the city.

According to local sources, the meeting addressed several topics related primarily to the city's internal affairs and its needs, in addition to discussing the future of the political process and the outcomes of the Advisory Committee.

During her visit to Bani Walid, Khoury is scheduled to hold several other meetings with members of the municipal councils in Bani Walid, Mardum, and Tatanai, as well as with women's and youth activists. She will also visit Bani Walid University to meet with the university council and visit some of the city's landmarks.
