Cairo, July 5, 2025 (LANA) – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Speaker of the House of Representatives, Counselor Aguila Saleh, in Cairo on Saturday, as part of strengthening bilateral relations and consultations on developments in Libya.
The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, Mohamed El-Shenawy, explained that the meeting addressed the latest developments in Libya. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt's unwavering support for Libya and its national institutions, emphasizing the importance of preserving Libya's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
According to the official spokesperson, the Egyptian President stressed the need to unify Libyan and international efforts to reach a comprehensive political settlement that paves the way for simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible, in a manner that meets the aspirations of the Libyan people for security, stability, and a dignified life.
President El-Sisi also reiterated Egypt's commitment to continuing its support for our Libyan brothers and coordinating with various relevant regional and international parties, based on Egypt's commitment to Libya's stability, as it is an integral part of its national stability. He stressed the need for all foreign forces to withdraw from Libyan territory, which would contribute to enhancing security and enabling Libyan institutions to perform their duties in consolidating stability throughout Libya.
In a related context, the Egyptian President expressed his country's interest in participating in Libya's reconstruction efforts and transferring Egyptian expertise to support the development process in various sectors.
For his part, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, expressed his deep appreciation for the historical and fraternal relations between Libya and Egypt, praising Egypt's role in supporting Libya's unity and the cohesion of its institutions.
