Tripoli, June 5, 2025 (LANA) – The Public Prosecution has begun examining the criminal case against four expatriates who formed a criminal gang, whose members deliberately falsified data on the national identification system.

The Public Prosecutor's Office reported that the Public Prosecutor reviewed findings submitted by the Office's Communications and Information Affairs Control Department regarding the conspiracy of three expatriates from Morocco and one expatriate from Chad, along with public employees, to list (60) national identification numbers for persons who were not Libyan nationals. The conspiracy also involved using the registration data of ten Libyan families to obtain citizenship rights.

The Office explained that upon interrogating the accused expatriates, the Public Prosecution ordered their pretrial detention pending investigation and directed the arrest of the remaining contributors to the incident.
