Expanded meeting at the Ministry of Labor to discuss mechanisms regulating the entry and employment of expatriate workers in the country.

Tripoli, June 30, 2025 (LANA) - The Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation in the Government of National Unity, Ali Al-Abed Al-Rida, chaired an expanded meeting today, attended by the Head of the Passports, Foreigners' Affairs and Nationality Authority, Major General Youssef Murad, to discuss mechanisms for regulating the entry and employment of expatriate workers in the country.
The meeting, which was attended by a number of officials and specialists from relevant authorities, reviewed developments in the work of the "Wafed" digital platform and mechanisms for regulating the entry and employment of expatriate workers, contributing to controlling the labor market and achieving the highest levels of efficiency and transparency in procedures related to granting work permits.
Al-Abed emphasized the importance of adopting health certificates for expatriate workers as a basic preventative measure to protect public health from infectious and dangerous diseases. He considered this issue a priority related to the health and food security of society.
He also emphasized the need to complete the electronic link between the "Wafed" platform and the Passports and Nationality Authority system, through joint working teams, in preparation for the issuance of electronic work cards granted to workers after they obtain an official work permit.
Representatives from the Passports Department and a number of relevant technical departments within the Ministry participated in the meeting, including the Employment, Inspection and Occupational Safety, Workers' Housing, and Municipal Labor Office Follow-up Departments. The meeting was also attended by the Head of the "Wafed" Digital Platform Department, the Director General of the Human Resources Development Fund, and a number of technical advisors supervising the development and operation of the digital platform.
