The Agricultural Police - Tarhona Branch Conducts Field Campaign to Stop Forest Attacks.

Tarhona, June 30, 2025 (LANA) - The Agricultural Police - Tarhona Branch, in cooperation with the Director of the Forestry Office in the Agriculture Sector and the Director of the Agricultural Services Office in Souq al-Ahad, have begun implementing an extensive field campaign aimed at stopping attacks on three main forests: Khalfoun, Armila, and Maslat, which have an estimated total area of ​​approximately 260 hectares.

The Agricultural Police stated that the campaign was launched based on an official report received from the official in the Agriculture Sector in Tarhona, indicating that there had been attacks on some forests within the city's administrative jurisdiction. The campaign included field visits to inspect the damage, document the attacks, and establish mechanisms to limit repeated violations affecting vegetation cover and protected areas.

She noted that forest patrols seized a well-drilling machine (Sonda) during the campaign, and the worker operating it was arrested pending the referral of the case to the competent Public Order Prosecution. All legal measures have been taken in this regard, and the search for the remaining perpetrators is ongoing. The relevant authorities emphasized that the campaign aims to protect forests from illegal logging and random encroachments, in addition to preserving the ecological balance and confronting encroachments that constitute a clear violation of environmental and agricultural laws.
