The Fate of the UNSMIL.

Tripoli, June 30, 2025 - (LANA) - The National Union of Libyan Workers, in cooperation with the Libyan Network for the Support and Protection of Juvenile Delinquents and the Libyan Network for Organizing Migrant Workers, organized a dialogue session this morning in Tripoli entitled "The Voice of Reason: The Fate of the United Nations Mission in Libya: Stay or Leave?" The session was attended by university political science professors, Arab legislative and internet law advisors, and the Secretary-General of the Arab League.

Participants in the dialogue session, discussed several topics, including: (The role of the United Nations Mission since 2011 - Reviewing the role of the United Nations in Libya since 2011: Causes, failures, and repercussions - Citizens' opinions: support and rejection - Transparency in the selection of representatives - Lessons learned from the United Nations Mission - Opportunities and challenges - The role of the international community - Immunity of armed groups - The role of women, youth, and the media - Weakness and lack of transparency in government institutions - Future prospects - The role of unions and civil society organizations).

The session aims to evaluate the role of the United Nations Mission in bringing about a political solution. Libya, from the political impasse it is experiencing, and its role in promoting dialogue among Libyans, and mechanisms to enhance trust between citizens and the United Nations mission, and building a better future governed by peace, stability and constructive dialogue as the only way to overcome current challenges and prevent a recurrence of chaos and suffering, and a platform for understanding and transparency and to enhance hope for a better tomorrow.
