Abdullah Al-Lafi Receives Russian Ambassador.

Tripoli, June 29, 2025 (LANA) - Presidential Council Member Abdullah Al-Lafi received the Russian Ambassador to Libya, Idar Aganin, on Sunday. The meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries and discuss developments in the Libyan political scene and the future of the political process in the country.

During the meeting, Al-Lafi affirmed the Presidential Council's commitment to a political solution as the primary tool for ending the Libyan crisis. He stressed the need to unify international efforts and build on existing political tracks, foremost among them the Berlin process, with the aim of reaching a comprehensive settlement that creates the conditions for holding elections and achieving lasting stability and peace in Libya.

Al-Lafi also expressed the Presidential Council's aspiration for a more effective international and regional role that contributes to supporting national reconciliation efforts and strengthening trust among Libyan parties.

For his part, Ambassador Idar Aganin reiterated his country's full support for the Presidential Council's efforts to advance the political process, commending its effective role in facilitating national dialogue and promoting consensus among Libyan parties.

The Russian ambassador also expressed his country's full support for the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya.
