Tunisia renews its commitment to supporting the efforts of the UN mission in Libya to support the political process and achieve stability.

Tunis, June 27, 2025 (LANA) - Tunisia renewed its commitment to supporting the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) in assisting the political process and achieving stability in this brotherly country, based on a vision that leads to a lasting and comprehensive solution, agreed upon by all parties, under UN auspices.

This came during a reception by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, on Friday for the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Head of the Strategic Review Team of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), who is currently visiting Tunisia.

The Tunisian Foreign Ministry stated that Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti stressed during the meeting the importance of the role played by the Strategic Review Team in assessing the mandate of the UN mission and monitoring its response to political, security, and humanitarian developments in Libya, with the aim of proposing the necessary recommendations to enhance its effectiveness on the ground. He affirmed Tunisia's continued readiness to support all diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue and reconciliation efforts between the various Libyan parties, achieving the desired consensus to reach a lasting Libyan-Libyan political solution that respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of this sister country, free from any foreign interference in its internal affairs. This will enable the consolidation of the foundations of security and stability in Libya and throughout the Arab and African region.

For its part, according to the Tunisian Foreign Ministry, Kroslak praised Tunisia's steadfast and continuous support for the UN mission in Libya, expressing her deep thanks and appreciation to Tunisia for its cooperation and support for the UN's efforts to support the political process in Libya and achieve a consensual and comprehensive political settlement in the country that takes into account all security, economic, social, cultural, and educational dimensions.

She also commended Tunisia's balanced, neutral, and constructive positions on the situation in Libya and its important role in supporting dialogue, consensus, and reconciliation efforts among Libyan brothers at various stages.
